When last we left our intrepid fulltime freelancer, it was high noon and he had just made his first major decision of the day.

There is no such thing as an “average” day when you are freelancing. That’s part of the fun of it. Every day is different since I left my day job and turned to writing fulltime.

I lied. I told you in my previous post that I bid two cents a word for every word I would write for AlfaBlue. That’s not true.

AlfaBloggers is one of four web sites I currently work on for my client, AlfaBlue. The company has paid more than a dozen other writers for their wordsmithing talents since I came on board—many at more than two cents a word.

I’ve already admitted to being a content mercenary. I’ll write on just about any topic, from the dangers of coal-fired power plants to the joys of F1 powerboat racing in Qatar. Just give me an assignment.

How cool is this? Every word you’re reading right now, including this one and this one and, yes, this “one,” too, is earning me two cents as I write it. Two cents a word. That’s a dollar just for this paragraph—$1.08 if you count the headline (which I do).

I once wanted an assignment writing for a sports betting blog. I wrote up a couple of (fake) press releases as samples of my work.
