Weekly Dynamic Blog Goals
Set yourself goals for the maintenance of your blog and the traffic will come to you.
It all comes down to a bit of forward planning. And just in case goal-setting isn’t your cuppa, here are seven ideas to get you going:
1. Always Answer Comments
Always reply to people chatting in your comments section. If you stop answering, your followers will stop commenting. People don’t like talking to walls, even on the Internet.
2. Publish at Least Two Blog Posts a Week
Blogs that don’t get updated regularly die fast and hard. Fact. Keep your blog fresh and your readers will stay hungry for more.
3. Show off Your Skills
It’s no good being an expert in your chosen blogging field if you don’t let people know how clever you are. Stick three comments on blogs in your field every week—showing off your skills will make people want to check you out.
4. Find Your Friends
Take the time to scope out similar blogs and then network, network, network. Blogger Mitch Joel reckons: “You’ll have no semblance of community unless you’re active … in other spaces.”
5. Be a Guest Star
Guest posts on other blogs are a great way of making sure more people see what you’re about. It’s not a good idea to pitch total strangers, though. Make sure you’ve already connected or they might get a little frightened. And here’s some food for thought from ProBlogger Darren Rowse: “The times that you guest post you should put a concerted effort into … your own blog …. It’s an opportunity to find new readers.”
6. Social Media. It Really Works.
The more places people can find your stuff, the more likely they are to do so. It’s that simple.
Remember, you’re in the driver’s seat. If you’re an overachiever at heart and want to exceed your goals, your blog will too. Fancy taking it a bit more slowly? Your blog will meander along with you.
And don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a subscriber explosion right away. Slow and steady wins the race.
