How to Write an Article in Just 30 Minutes
A work of pure blogging genius needn’t take days or even hours to craft. Start your timer … now!
Content can still be king even if it only took 30 minutes to produce. Plus, writing to a schedule will enable you to post regularly while also attending to the realities of running your business.
Here’s how to turn around quality copy quickly.
1. The Ideas Have It
Don’t just sit down at your computer with nada ideas and wait for the magic to flow. Instead, carry a notebook with you wherever you go and jot down inspiration as it pops into your noggin.
That way, when you’re ready to write, you’ll hit the ground running.
In the words of blogger Josh Dunlop over at IncomeDiary.com , planning makes perfect: “If you’re having trouble writing a clear and concise blog post, it’s likely that you’ve skimped on the planning stages.”
2. Let Your Ideas Marinate
Once you’ve had a stellar idea it often pays dividends to just sit on it for a few days rather than getting to work straight away.
You can add new, related ideas to your initial inspiration, so that when it comes time to sit down to your computer you’ll have a more fleshed out story.
3. Sort the Wheat from the Chaff
As much as it may pain you to admit it, some of your ideas are bound to be stinkers.
Sit down with your main topic and supporting ideas and assess them for compatibility. If an idea doesn’t feel like a natural fit with the rest of the article, ditch it. Be ruthless.
4. Say It with Bullets
Bullet points, of course. A bullet-point list attracts the eye and makes information easier to absorb.
It can also make an article a lot quicker to write because you’re working to a prescribed layout.
According to blogger Michael Hyatt , “I like lists. This makes my posts highly scannable, which also makes them easier for my readers to digest.”
5. Short and Sweet
Be realistic. If you’re trying to write a blog post in 30 minutes, you’re unlikely to manage a well-constructed 1,000-word missive.
Instead, aim for 500 words or less. Keep it succinct and punchy and your audience will stay engaged.
